A car was rammed against the gates of synagogue and set alight in a residential suburb of the southern French city of Toulouse, AFP reported Tuesday, citing local officials.
A rabbi was giving a lecture in the synagogue when the incident occurred, according the officials.
"Nobody was hurt in the blaze which has not been claimed," district prefecture spokeswoman Anne-Gaelle Baudouin-Clerc said.
Neighbors alerted the security forces, Baudouin-Clerc said, adding that another car containing three unused petrol bombs was found nearby.
The attack was immediately condemned by Jewish and anti-racist bodies in France, AFP said.
