www.onenewsnow.com/Politics/Default.aspx?id=426066Conservatives welcome Netanyahu victoryChad Groening - OneNewsNow - 2/21/2009 4:30:00 AM The leader of a Messianic Jewish ministry says she is pleased that conservative leader Benjamin Netanyahu will be Israel's next prime minister. Israeli President Shimon Peres has chosen Likud leader Benjamin Netanyahu to form a new government. Jan Markell, founder and director of Olive Tree Ministries, believes Israelis realized that Israel will need a leader who will be able to act without the support of the United States. "Basically Israel now has to go at it alone, which is actually fulfillment of scripture. Zechariah 12 through 14 prophesies that to happen. They have to go at it alone in this world. America is going to be tougher and tougher on them under this new administration, which will be more pro-Islam than it will be pro-Israel," she contends. "And they want a leader who will not cave. And the only one that Israel could see that would not cave is Benjamin Netanyahu." Friday's announcement means that Netanyahu now has six weeks to put together a ruling coalition. The Jerusalem Post says his liberal rival, Kadima leader Tzipi Livni, will not join any Netanyahu coalition. It will be made up with parties to the right of Likud.
