Big numbers have also been reported in other areas including the Flinders Ranges. A grower at Cooltong near Renmark, Roly Telfer, says the locusts are not posing too much of a threat yet. "Not at this stage of the year, I think most people have permanent plantings and I can't see that they would do a lot of damage although it could be affecting the winter vegetable crops if they're in at the moment at an early stage - just coming up - they could be damaged," he said.
