Have you ever attended a church, an they said it was ok for you to receive prayer from something outside of the Body Of Christ, whether it be from New Agers, Satanists, Muslims, Mormons or anything else that is linked to Paganism & or Witchcraft.
I know I have, and it is a doctrine of demons, an was taught this from a self appointed apostle of a church called Miracle Christian Center, named Dorian Ballard, years ago, whether he is still teaching it or not, I don’t know, because of him teaching it, opened this vessel up to inviting the devil to play with the Bodily Temple, set aside for the Glory of God, an this vessel saw the dark side of this doctrine, to encountering many of those playing with devils in the new age movement, an many who would seduce you to come into their practices, they would want you to get involved in their demonic mantras to Bless you, which is also called Initiation Ceremonies, which can be found in many of the East Asian religions as well as in the Masonic lodges.
This doctrine is seductive itself in its sound, but isn’t sound itself according to the Word of God, so this is why the title of this is called The Cup Of The Lord & The Cup Of Devils.
Now the Cup of the Lord & the Cup of Devils comes from 1 Corinthians 10.
Starting with 1 Cor 10:20-23 it states.
1Co 10:20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.
1Co 10:21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.
1Co 10:22 Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?
1Co 10:23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.
As we see here Saul/Paul is saying the gentiles, or the people outside of Israel & the Church, sacrifice to devils, and not to God, moving into the next verse he then shows that we cannot drink of the both of the Cup of the Lord & The Cup of the Pagans Devils, moving into the next verse showing, an asking should we Provoke God to Jealousy for such an action, to are we Stronger than God, which no man is stronger than God, moving onto the verse 23 he acknowledges all things are lawful, an moves forward further in the verse, that not all things edify not, so not all things Edify God.
Moving into the next following verses.
1Co 10:24 Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth.
1Co 10:25 Whatsoever is sold in the meat market, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:
1Co 10:26 For the earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof.
1Co 10:27 If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.
1Co 10:28 But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that showed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof:
Paul goes on to say, let no man seek his own, to every man of another mans wealth, then he approaches of meat being sold in a market, to eat, an not to question for your own sake, he then reminds us, The Earth is the Lords & in it’s fullness, he moves forward to addressing if your invited to eat at a persons house, not to ask once again, then moves into, if you are invited into a house hold, an the household admit to you, that which is eaten in front of you is dedicated to false idols aka devils, not to eat it, an reminds us once again The Earth is the Lords and its fullness thereof.
This self same teaching applies to doctrines in the Body of Christ.
Now lets look at the beginning of 1 Cor 10, on how Paul addresses the Disciples of Christ, starting from verse 1-5.
1Co 10:1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
1Co 10:2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
1Co 10:3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
1Co 10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
1Co 10:5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
As we look to how Paul is addressing the body of Christ, reminding us of Israel, not to be ignorant of things that happened in the past in situations past with Moses encountered with the Children of Israel in the wilderness, that they were baptized, and did eat of the same spiritual meat, an did drink of that same spiritual drink being found in spiritual Rock which is Jesus Christ our Savior, he then addresses how with many in the wilderness, God wasn’t happy with, for they had become overthrown, whilst in the wilderness, in the next verses we will see what things had overthrown the children of Israel.
1Co 10:6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
1Co 10:7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
1Co 10:8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
1Co 10:9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
1Co 10:10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
1Co 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
1Co 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
1Co 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
1Co 10:14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.
Paul starts off saying these things in the past are our examples to learn from, and addresses the first thing being lust, which can lead into adultery, fornication & immorality, he then addresses Idolatry, which is inviting false idols into the Kingdom of God, false idols can also be false doctrines, which can come from false teachers, prophets, evangelists, apostles, pastors & brethren, so for any man to bring in prayer from outside sources becomes idolatry as it becomes a form of worship to that false idol/devil.
He then addresses fornication, as is covered by lust, the next thing he tells us, isn’t to Tempt Christ, or to murmur of which were both were destroyed by serpents & the destroyer, he reminds us again these are examples so we don’t fall into the same sin that Israel did, he then tells us let him that think he stands to take heed, or look out unless he falls, or fall into sin, an not falling away as many like to address, in verses 13-14 he says in addressing of them, that the only temptations we encounter is common to those to all man, so what the world is tempted of, he then says to us disciples in Christ, knowing we will be tempted by these temptations that men will encounter outside the body of Christ, That God is faithful to us in the body of Christ, that we wont be attempted above what we are able to endure, and through Gods faithfulness he will provide an escape through Him, that we are able to bear it, with verse 14 he strictly reminds us, flee from Idolatry.
Now we move onto verses 15-19, where verse 20 onwards addresses how the gentiles or pagans in that day sacrificed their food to idols or devils, which was addressed earlier.
1Co 10:15 I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.
1Co 10:16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
1Co 10:17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.
1Co 10:18 Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?
1Co 10:19 What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?
First he says to judge what he says, so follow it up with what Gods word says on the subject, addressing them as wise men, next he moves onto to the communion table where the body of Christ partakes of eating of the Bread & Body found representing Christ, to even of the cup of blessing which represents the blood of Christ, he then makes reference of Israel after the flesh that which eat sacrifices of the alter of God, which Jesus speaks of the Alter, which maketh things Holy.
Lastly he questions us in regards to idols, as too are they anything & the sacrifice to idols are they anything in the sight of God basically, verse 20 onwards, which was addressed earlier to verse 28, showed why it was important not to eat of flesh sacrificed to false idols or devils.
Moving into to verse 29-33.
1Co 10:29 Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience?
1Co 10:30 For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?
1Co 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
1Co 10:32 Give none offense, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:
1Co 10:33 Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.
In verse 29, he addresses our mind that our mind isn’t our own, an of the other, why is our freedom judged of another man’s mind, showing an example that the world has judged us by their own mind, to verse 30 he shows though we are partakers of Gods Grace, why are we evil spoken of those things for which we give thanks to God, by the world once again, continuing in verse 31 he addresses whether we be eating, drinking, or whatsoever we do, do it all for the Glory of God, to hold to what God has taught us in His Word.
Verse 32 show nothing offensive, that might cause whether Jew, Gentile or the Church of God, to fall into Sin & verse 33 even as well please all men in all things, not seeking to our own profit, to profit many, that they may be saved by keeping to obedience to Gods Word.
