This song brought me out of a dark time in 1986 and has always when times have been low for me.
I got saved April 1st 1983, a few months short of my 30th birthday. As with all of us, I was on fire for the Lord. But as with all many of us, I had much to learn. And alot of it was heartbreaking. I wasn't paying much attention to that still small voice and was just running around trying to get as many notches in my bible as possible.
Little did I realize that there was much that needed to done within me first. But I just knew I was doing the Lords will... or was I.
Slowly, things started to fall apart. When God saw that I was not listening to Him, He stepped aside and let me go. I ran straight into a world of hurt, but I just knew God was guiding me...
The church I was attending was changing, old friends left and new ones came, my pre-christian friends were all gone. I found myself trying new churches, desperately trying to rekindle the fire that was dwindling. I felt alone, I cried to God to find out why, yet I didn't stop long enough to listen.
I was well on the way to going right back to where this had all began...
Then one day, I heard this song. I then realized that it wasn't God running from me, but the other way around, yet He had not forsaken me, He kept pace with me just waiting for that moment that I would stop and turn around and look. And then He ran to me... the song will tell you the rest.
