Recently, an anonymous donor gave a $50 million gift to the ministry. That gift is to be used in translating the Bible into the remaining 2,400 or so language groups worldwide which do not have their own translation. Bob Creson, president of Wycliffe, says a lot of work remains to be done. "We have been involved in this movement for about 75-years as an organization," he reports. "And as we have come into the last few years we are recognizing that the number of Bible translation needs around the world is starting to drop rapidly and we really believe that this generation could be the generation that sees the last Bible translation need started," said Creson. Creson stresses that literacy is always a component of their mission. "Literacy has a huge impact within a community, particularly when you work with women," he continues. "Women will actually become the change agents, not only within their families, but also in the community -- if you can give them access to information. If you can do that in their mother tongue, it's much more powerful." The effort is called "The Last Languages Campaign."
