Israeli Forensic Experts to Mumbai
Forensic experts from Israel's national police force are en route to Mumbai, India, to assist in identifying victims of the massive terror attack that brought India's financial capital to a standstill for three days. Indian police found nine bodies in the Chabad center, the local headquarters of the international Jewish outreach organization. Among them were Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and his wife, Rivka, who ran the center. Witnesses to the scene of the carnage reported ghastly images of blood everywhere and live hand grenades still lying amid the bodies. Only after the grenades were neutralized were the bodies finally removed. Rivka Holtzberg's body was covered with a prayer shawl, apparently indicating she had been killed early on and was covered by others who were themselves killed later. At least two bodies were tied up with telephone cords. By the time all 10 of the terrorists' target locations had been secured 195 bodies had been counted, but officials expect the death toll to rise to as many as 300 by the time they finish searching through the rubble of luxury hotels attacked.
