Alaska State Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said numerous callers reported the earthquake just after 9 a.m. Saturday. The U.S. Geological Survey rated the quake at magnitude 6.1, and the Alaska Earthquake Information Center gave it a preliminary magnitude of 5.7. No tsunami warning was generated. The earthquake was centered about 45 miles southwest of Homer, which is about 130 miles southwest of Anchorage.
