A powerful earthquake was reported 340km off the coast of Panama on Thursday night, seismologists have revealed.
The US geological survey (USGS) said the 6.2 magnitude quake rocked the seabed at 17:23 local time (23:23 GMT).
According to the USGS the quake, which had its epicentre 10km below the Pacific Ocean, did not result in any tsunami warnings.
The quake, 515km south-west of Panama City, disrupted telecommunications services in Panama but no injuries were reported.
A day before two earthquakes measuring 5.7 and 5.9 struck the Costa Rican-Panamanian border.
