www.onenewsnow.com/Culture/Default.aspx?id=547020 LODI, CA - The mayor of Lodi, California, says its City Council meetings may begin with a moment of silence instead of prayer because of a complaint by the Freedom From Religion Foundation. An attorney for the Wisconsin-based group has warned Lodi's City Council that its invocations "impermissibly advance Christianity." The Foundation says that since 2007, pastors invited to open meetings have invoked Jesus' name in 39 of 55 prayers. They claim that violates court decisions on separation of church and state. Lodi Mayor Larry Hensen says he gains inner strength from the prayers, but the city might have to scrap them to avoid a court battle.
