The quake struck 1,802 kilometers (1,120 miles) east-northeast of Saint John's, Antigua, at a depth of 10 kilometers (six miles) at 5:33 pm (2033 GMT), according to a preliminary USGS report. A National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration tsunami scientist, Bill Knight, said the quake was a "sub-threshold event" that did not merit a tsunami warning.
